Meet Mark

Mark Pukita is an “America First”, Republican candidate for the US Senate in 2022 from Ohio.

Mark was an enthusiastic supporter of Donald Trump’s “America First” agenda from the start. Frustrated with the direction of the country and the horrific way President Trump was being treated, Mark decided he had to act and registered to primary Rob Portman, Ohio’s junior Senator, in May 2022.

Recently, Portman announced that he will be leaving the U.S. Senate, making Mark the only candidate to have declared his candidacy while Portman was still the incumbent.

Mark was born in Scranton, PA. He graduated with honors in 1981 from The Ohio State University earning a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. In 1996 he founded his own company and built it to nearly $100 million annual revenue before selling 90% of the company in 2019. The company won the Columbus Business First “Fast 50” nine times between 2005 and 2016.

Mark has two daughters, one grandson, and another on the way. He lives in Dublin, OH with his 7-year-old beagle, Izzy. He speaks understandable Italian and loves to cook.

Dear Fellow Ohio and/or U.S. Citizen:

Like you, I am a regular American trying to do the best I can for my family, friends, community, and country. Like you, I play by the rules and don't cut corners.

Can you say that about your representatives in Washington?

Do you believe, in your heart, that they're spending 100% of their time representing you? Taking action and making things happen to make life better for you, better for your children, and your future generations?

I sure don't.

That's why I'm running, and that's why I'd like to earn your vote.

I will warn you. I am not a typical candidate. Like our current President, I've never run for office before. Like our current President, I'm not afraid to call 'em as I see 'em.

I've generated thousands of jobs in Ohio through the company I started, in my basement, with $1,000 of my own money, in 1996.

I do plan to take what we've learned from Donald Trump, and use it to our mutual benefit should I be elected. Amplify what he does well, and avoid what he gets appropriately criticized for. I'm sure you know what I mean.

I urge you to interact with me directly. You can do so here on this web site, and on Twitter: @mpukita

I need your ideas, I need your constructive criticism, and I need your support.

Thank you!

Warm regards,

Mark - First Name Only

Formal press release on my candidacy:

November 29, 2019

I thought it might be interesting for you to understand what it took to officially become a candidate for a federal office.

For me, that is the U.S. Senate.

First, I had to register as a candidate with the FEC (Federal Election Commission). Shortly after that, I was required to register an election committee, in order to manage the finances of my campaign.

You can view these registrations HERE, as you can every other federal candidate, PAC, etc. Lots of good information!

Then, I had more "housekeeping" matters to tackle.

A campaign website was generated using a company called Nationbuilder, who are outstanding!

Part of getting the website online was reserving a domain name (, as well as contracting for email services.

I also needed to establish Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram accounts specifically for my campaign.

Oh yeah, forgot about a logo ...

And, very importantly, a bank account, as well as registering with state & federal taxing authorities as a not-for-profit organization.

The bank account allowed me to connect the donation / donor page on the website to Stripe, one of my payment processors. Stripe takes your credit card info and debits your credit card account & credits my campaign bank account.

(hint, hint 😉)

I've also registered with Anedot, another well-known payment processor that mainly focuses on political campaigns & issue campaigns.

These services are not free (🙄 imagine that!).

Stripe charges a "discount" of 2.9% + $0.30/transaction.

Anedot charges a "discount" of 4% + $0.30/transaction.

Next, there were business cards ordered ...

... and bumper stickers.

That's a quick update on progress so far.

More in a little while.

Any questions? Just ask.

We should have this all settled and managed within the next week. Then, we'll be talking ideas, plans, action, accomplishment. And, debating what's best for America's future.

Feel free to take a look around here on the web, register/sign-up, and send us your comments!
